Alloy steel casting parts
Cast alloy steel is categorized as either low- or high-alloy. Cast low-alloy steel (≤ 8 percent alloy content) behaves similar to normal carbon steel, but with higher hardenability. Cast high-alloy steel (> 8 percent alloy content) is designed to produce a specific property, such as corrosion resistance, heat resistance, or wear resistance.
Alloy Steel Casting Standard and Grades:
ASTM A148: Grade 105-85/ 725-585, Grade 115-95/ 795-655, Grade 130-115/ 895-795, Grade 135-125/ 930-860, Grade 150-135/1305-930
AISI: 4130, 4325, 4330, 4340, 8620
ASTM A217: Grade WC1, Grade WC4, Grade WC5, Grade WC6
ASTM A352: LCA, LCB, LCC, LC1, LC2, LC2-1
With investment castings made in alloy steel, we can achieve lots of properties including (as compared to carbon steels): Strength, hardness, toughness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and hardenability. Of course, heat treatment will help to improve some of these improved properties if casting can not meet directly.
